Frequently asked questions
Is this a real tax filing tool?
No. HolaSam's IRPF calculator is a planning and orientation tool. It gives you a structured estimate so you can understand your situation and prepare for a better conversation with your gestor or tax advisor. It does not file Modelo 100, submit anything to AEAT, or replace professional tax advice.
Do I need an account to use the IRPF calculator?
No account is required. You answer a short series of questions, get your estimate instantly, and can optionally save it with a link sent to your email. No password, no full signup.
Can the IRPF calculator handle US income like 401(k), IRA, Roth IRA, or LLC/K-1 income?
Yes — that is one of the main reasons it exists. The calculator recognizes US-specific income types including 401(k) withdrawals, Traditional IRA withdrawals, Roth IRA distributions, LLC/K-1 income, and S-corp distributions. Where the Spanish treatment is clear, it classifies the income. Where the treatment may be uncertain or fact-specific, it flags the issue instead of pretending there is one simple answer.
What does 'Spain likely category' mean?
Spain taxes different types of income in different ways. Employment income, business income, savings income, capital gains, pensions, and rental income may each land in different parts of the Spanish tax system. The calculator classifies each income item into the Spanish tax category it most likely belongs in and shows a confidence level so you can see where the estimate is straightforward and where professional review may be useful.
What if I'm on the Beckham Law or live in País Vasco or Navarra?
The calculator detects these situations and tells you when the standard IRPF estimate does not apply. Beckham Law and the foral territories of País Vasco and Navarra use different rules outside the scope of this tool. That is intentional: we would rather stop and explain the limitation than show you a number based on the wrong tax system.
How accurate is the IRPF estimate?
It is a planning estimate, not a precise filing calculation. The calculator uses Spain's general IRPF framework, tax bands, personal and family minimums, and the income information you enter. It cannot account for every deduction, regional variation, treaty position, documentation issue, or professional judgment call. It is most useful for understanding the shape of your situation, seeing which income types drive the estimate, and knowing what to ask a professional.
Can I use it if I moved to Spain during the year?
Yes, but move-year situations can be more complex. The calculator can ask about your residency status and timing, but the result should be treated as an orientation estimate rather than a final filing position. If your move year involves split residency, foreign employment, self-employment, stock sales, rental income, or foreign accounts, the calculator can help you organize the issues before speaking with a gestor or cross-border tax advisor.
What income types can the IRPF calculator estimate?
The calculator supports employment salary, self-employment / autónomo income, pensions, 401(k) and IRA withdrawals, Roth IRA distributions, dividends and interest, capital gains, rental income, US LLC/K-1 income, and S-corp income. You can enter multiple income items, including more than one item of the same type.
Which tax year does the calculator use?
The calculator asks for the tax year you want to estimate and applies the rules available for that year. When a rule is uncertain, unavailable, or outside the calculator's scope, the result should show that limitation instead of hiding it.
Is the IRPF calculator free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no credit card and no trial period.
Free. No account. Takes about 3 minutes.
